Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated 180-day substitute teacher to join our team. As a substitute teacher, you will be responsible for delivering district curriculum to students in the absence of their regular teachers, maintaining instructional continuity, and providing a supportive and engaging learning environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver district curriculum to students in the absence of their regular teachers, maintaining instructional continuity.
  • Assist with dismissal procedures, take student attendance, and utilize provided lesson plans to deliver instruction, monitor, and assist student learning.
  • Implement provided classroom management plan, including using discipline techniques aligned with written campus discipline procedures and district policy.
  • Monitor students' behavior outside the classroom at designated times, between classes, and at assigned duty stations as directed.
  • Leave a written classroom report for the regular teacher, including pertinent details regarding completion of lesson plans.
  • Monitor all students and follow any individualized student plans provided by the campus.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, such as working in supplemental assignments under special revenue funds or state compensatory education funds.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications:

  • 60 college credit hours from an accredited college or university (Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred).
  • At least six months of experience as a substitute teacher or full-time teacher.
  • Working at inner-city schools with diverse student populations is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish oral and written) is preferred in some settings.

In addition to the essential qualifications, we prefer candidates with the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
