As an English Teacher at our academy, you'll play a vital role in helping our cadets develop a strong foundation in language arts and achieve academic success. **Job Responsibilities** As an English Teacher at the SC National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Academy, you'll be responsible for: * Organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with Youth ChalleNGe Academy policies * Developing a curriculum and providing educational instruction in the subject matter assigned * Planning and preparing lesson plans and related activities for individual students or to assigned classes * Creating a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students * Incorporating experiential learning teaching methods * Guiding the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals and establishing clear objectives for all lessons * Maintaining accurate, complete and up-to-date records of attendance, and test scores/grades * Assessing the accomplishments of the cadets on a regular basis and providing progress reports as required * Performing related duties as required **Essential Qualifications** To be considered for this role, you'll need to possess: * A Bachelor's Degree with a major in the subject area to be taught and necessary education courses required to teach in South Carolina * Experience working with high school students in an educational setting is desirable * Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations relative to the area of responsibility * Knowledge of principles of instruction, basic education principles and theories * Ability to observe and interpret behavior * Ability to analyze data and organize information * Ability to communicate effectively, written, and orally * Knowledge of principles of human growth and behavior * Ability to work in a stressful environment and keep composure * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships **Preferred Qualifications** While not required, we prefer candidates with: * A Bachelor's Degree with a major in English * Certified in the areas of Secondary English/Language Arts * Experience working with high school students in an educational setting **Skills and Competencies** To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess: * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work effectively in a team environment * Strong organizational and time management skills * Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills * Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** As an English Teacher at the SC National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Academy, you'll have the opportunity to: * Develop your teaching skills and expertise in language arts * Work with a diverse group of students and develop your ability to adapt to different learning styles * Collaborate with a team of dedicated educators and support staff to provide a comprehensive education to our cadets * Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay up-to-date on best practices in education * Pursue opportunities for career advancement and professional growth within our organization **Work Environment and Company Culture** As an English Teacher at the SC National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Academy, you'll work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that is committed to providing a supportive and structured environment for our cadets.
