We are seeking an experienced Theatre and Design Teacher to join our Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. As a Theatre and Design Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and implementing engaging lessons, developing curriculum, and providing technical direction for various events and productions. As a Theatre and Design Teacher, you will be responsible for the following key areas:- Developing and implementing engaging lessons and curriculum aligned with CTE content standards and district curriculum goals
- Providing technical direction for various events and productions, including theatrical productions, dance shows, and concerts
- Supervising technical work for events in Centennial Hall and Eichelberger Hall, including setup, strike, and maintenance of equipment and instruments
- Leading the production management of the Stivers Celebrates event at the Masonic Center, including technical requests, program order, and stage management
- Maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning, including classroom management strategies and program
- Identifying and engaging business and industry partners to support instruction and provide work-based learning opportunities
- Building and maintaining an advisory board to advise on the direction of instruction and plans for improvement
- Creating and managing work-based learning opportunities within and outside of the school to ensure each CTE student earns 250 hours by graduation
- Providing mentorship and support to CTE students, including college and career planning, interviewing, and portfolio development
- Writing recommendation letters as requested and maintaining detailed records of purchase requests, orders, and receipts
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:- A valid/appropriate Ohio teaching license in Workforce Development or the ability to obtain one
- Ability to successfully engage students in learning and willingness to utilize technology to enhance student learning
- Ability to obtain Ohio School Van Driver Certification to transport students for field trips and CTSO activities
- Understanding of the importance of literacy with respect to the career field
- Passing a criminal background check and complying with drug-free workplace rules, board policies, and other guidelines and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Theatre Design & Technology, or Theatre with a concentration in Design & Production
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working in the career field, with some experience in youth theatre or similar educational institutions
- A wide range of work experience across multiple areas of Theatre design and technology, particularly scenery design and construction, lighting design and programming, audio production, costume production, prop/craft work, stage rigging, and stage management
- Working knowledge of standard performance setups and practices in each area of performance art: Theatre, Dance, Band/Orchestra, Piano, and Choir
- Working knowledge of the following programs and technologies: EOS family lighting consoles, Mac/PC computers, AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks, QLab, Photoshop, Google Suite, automated pit lift and lighting systems, and theatrical rigging
- OSHA certification or demonstrated knowledge of standard Theatre safety practices
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, be comfortable working on your feet most of the day, and work on ladders and lifts
