Job Overview
As a Field Clinical Educator, you will be responsible for the development of clinicians as they apply knowledge obtained from training into the Home Health environment. You will instruct, counsel, and act as a role model, leader, influencer, advocate, evaluator, and socialization agent, ensuring the growth and retention of new hires. Key Responsibilities
- Teach, mentor, and coach clinicians in the home health environment, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Demonstrate competence in the performance of clinical skills, including admission of patients, assessment, development of care plans, case management, coordination of care, and other clinical care duties.
- Coordinate and oversee the work of new hires and other patient-facing clinicians in the classroom and field environment, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
- Model regulatory compliance and standards, ensuring that all clinicians understand and adhere to relevant laws and regulations.
- Provide oversight and education to ensure effective collaboration with healthcare providers in accordance with physician's orders and plan of care.
- Act as a liaison and maintain communication with new hires, leadership, peer mentors, and the Home Health Learning & Development team, ensuring a seamless onboarding process and ongoing support.
- Ensure the execution of the orientation experience, utilizing the orientation toolkit, competency assessments, and state-specific requirements as needed.
- Continually work to create a culture of learning and support for clinicians, providing immediate and ongoing feedback to help them gain confidence and competence in their respective roles.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Diploma or Associate's degree in Nursing, with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience in Home Health, with HCHB experience and OASIS certification highly desirable.
- Prior nurse leadership or educator experience, demonstrating strong leadership skills and the ability to function with minimal supervision.
- An unrestricted RN license in the work state assigned, with current CPR certification.
- Effective communication, interpersonal skills, and sound decision-making skills, with the ability to assess the learning needs and skills of new clinicians and provide immediate and ongoing feedback.
- A strong desire to mentor and develop clinicians, with the ability to create a nurturing and supportive environment conducive to learning using adult learning principles in the classroom and/or the field.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Previous experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of developing and mentoring clinicians.
- Advanced certification in a relevant specialty, such as gerontology or wound care.
- Experience with electronic medical records and other healthcare technology.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
