Job Overview

The Quality Control Aggregate/Asphalt Lab Technician position is responsible for testing products, recording and analyzing results data during product development and manufacturing. This role requires a strong understanding of quality control principles, laboratory procedures, and data analysis. As a key member of our quality control team, you will work closely with customers, fellow employees, and management to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for own personal safety at all times, as well as maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job
  • Be familiar with and follow the CRH Life Saving Rules
  • Maintain productive working relationships with customers and fellow employees
  • Involved daily in the quality needs of the Thomasville facility
  • Perform lab analysis as required for each operational phase; core drill, mine samples, finished product, projects, and new product development work
  • Collect samples, prep, and test using laboratory apparatus and equipment to determine the sample characteristics
  • Where applicable, assemble, operate, maintain, and calibrate field and laboratory testing and measuring equipment
  • Generate Certificates of Analysis for finished products where applicable
  • Prepare customer samples as needed
  • Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends, including failed processes and corrective actions
  • Analyze data to predict potential problems and take preventive actions
  • Provide investigation, response, and follow-up to product quality issues
  • Responsible for making product information available to sales department and qualified outside customers, including technical information, such as gradations
  • Perform general cleaning of work areas
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong educational foundation and relevant work experience. The minimum requirements for this position include:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's Degree from a college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing and quality organization is preferred
  • Industry experience desirable but not necessary
  • Valid state driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required
  • Strong communication skills and ability to network within the organization
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
