Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Warehouse Worker II to join our team on a full-time basis. As a Warehouse Worker II, you will be responsible for assisting in the loading and unloading of contributed goods, processing textile and hard goods products, and performing various warehouse tasks. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in loading contributed goods onto and off trucks, using correct and proper lifting procedures to prevent damage and ensure safe handling.
  • Load and unload store merchandise orders or return items as designated by the Warehouse Manager and/or Dock Lead, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
  • Perform forklift operations, including replenishment, order picking, loading or unloading trucks, and placing articles in designated areas, while maintaining a high level of safety and productivity.
  • Secure articles with ropes and padding to prevent damage, and pack and stack goods with care when loading and unloading to ensure minimal damage and maximum efficiency.
  • Assist in processing textile and hard goods products, including baling salvage textile in the manual or automated baler, and operating the compactor as needed.
  • Present a positive image of our organization to the public, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor at all times, and adhere to the organization's Core Principles and values.
  • Maintain appropriate dress code, including wearing a name badge, and observe and follow all safety and security procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and stage furniture, and perform other duties as assigned by the Warehouse and/or Dock Lead, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities and needs.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized warehouse, including sweeping, cleaning, and disposing of trash and debris, to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve common goals and objectives, and participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Education and Experience

No prior experience is required for this role, as we provide comprehensive training and development opportunities to help you succeed. However, previous experience in a warehouse or related environment is an asset, and can be beneficial in terms of understanding the industry and the role.

Math Ability

You will need to have a basic level of math ability, including the ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. You will also need to be able to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Computer Skills

No computer skills are required for this position, as the role is primarily focused on manual labor and warehouse operations. However, basic computer skills can be beneficial in terms of using technology to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities, as you will be working under the direction of the Warehouse Manager and/or Dock Lead. However, you will be expected to work collaboratively with other team members to achieve common goals and objectives.

Purchasing Authority

You will have no purchasing authority in this role, as all purchasing decisions will be made by the Warehouse Manager and/or Dock Lead. However, you will be expected to follow established procedures and protocols for ordering and receiving supplies and materials.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This role requires:

  • Regular lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds, and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds with assistance, to ensure safe handling and minimal damage.
  • Vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, to ensure accurate and efficient processing.
  • Standing and sitting for long periods, with regular breaks to ensure comfort and well-being.
  • Performing work outside and inside, with exposure to weather conditions, dust, dirt, electricity, noise, fumes, and chemicals, and demonstrating a commitment to safety and well-being in the workplace.
  • A forklift certification, which can be obtained through our comprehensive training program, to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.

Language Ability

You will need to have a basic level of language ability, including the ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words, and print and speak simple sentences. You will also need to be able to communicate effectively with other team members and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Reasoning Ability

You will need to have a basic level of reasoning ability, including the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. You will also need to be able to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables, and demonstrate a ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
