Job Summary and Responsibilities
In this exciting and challenging role, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with our IT information design and examination groups to develop and maintain data framework conditions that enable report automation for our Healthcare Quality Improvement program. As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you will be part of a cross-functional team of data investigators, BI engineers, system administrators, and data consumers to deliver performance insights across Walgreens Health. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Directing the delivery of Walgreens Health data and insights drives and projects, supporting long-term and ad-hoc data ETL and data warehousing activities to meet reporting and analysis expectations.
 - Designing, developing, and deploying layered databases and data pipelines to support reporting and analysis projects.
 - Creating data organizing and pre-processing rules for populating sensible and actual data models attached to report-specific working tables for both project business intelligence and pre-defined reporting solutions.
 - Applying data extraction, transformation, and loading best practices to integrate large datasets from various internal Walgreens production system sources and third-party records.
 - Performing data profiling and data analysis across internal production systems, manually maintained data, and standard healthcare datasets (e.g., member eligibility, clinical claims, pharmacy claims, HEDIS ECDS files).
 - Developing internal tools for automation of all development-related activities (data processing, QA, data validation, etc.).
 
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
- Proven, hands-on experience writing and tuning SQL-based ETL/ELT scripts.
 - Experience designing and deploying reasonably isolated data environments using ETL/ELT services that include but are not limited to Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Snowflake.
 - Experience providing thought leadership and presenting tool rationalist semantic data layer enhancements related to BI technology platforms like PowerBI, Tableau, or Looker.
 - Strong verbal and written communication skills with technical teams, internal stakeholders, clients, and vendor partners.
 - At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
 - At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team management.
 - Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
 
Preferred Qualifications and Certifications
While not required, the following preferred qualifications and certifications will be considered an asset:
- Information Management Certified Analytics Professional (CAP).
 - Experience with pharmacy, healthcare, and clinical research concepts.
