About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Virtual Special Education Teacher to join our team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of our students. As a Virtual Special Education Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the educational and behavioral needs of our diverse student body, with a particular focus on those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). You will have the opportunity to utilize cutting-edge technology and traditional teaching methods to ensure that every student reaches their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement IEPs for each student, ensuring that every student receives personalized support and accommodations to meet their unique needs.
  • Write and maintain IEPs in accordance with timelines and regulatory requirements, ensuring that students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to address student needs effectively, working collaboratively with colleagues to identify and implement strategies to support student growth and development.
  • Maintain accurate student records and files to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local mandates, and to provide a clear picture of student progress and achievement.
  • Conduct progress assessments and reports as necessary, using data to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions to support student growth and development.
  • Provide personalized instruction through one-on-one sessions, small group settings, or whole class environments, using a range of teaching strategies to engage and support students.
  • Administer Transition Assessments to facilitate student growth and development, and to identify areas where students may need additional support or accommodations.
  • Develop lesson plans tailored to accommodate goals outlined in students' IEPs, and to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to enhance standardized testing outcomes, and to identify areas where students may need additional support or accommodations.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding student information and professional matters, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

About You

We are looking for a highly qualified and experienced Virtual Special Education Teacher who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of our students. To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's Degree in Education or a related field, or a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of three years of teaching experience in special education.
  • Current West Virginia certification/licensure in special education.
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience, with a preference for at least two years in special education.
  • Strong content knowledge in one or more subject areas, and the ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Familiarity with state teaching standards and proficiency testing, and the ability to use data to inform instruction.
  • An understanding of, or willingness to learn, the MTSS process, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to support student growth and development.
  • Previous experience working with diverse student populations, and the ability to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A genuine passion for teaching and nurturing children's growth, and the ability to inspire and motivate students to reach their full potential.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Google Docs, MS Office Suite, and internet-based tools, and the ability to adapt to new technologies and acquire new skills independently.
  • A sound ability to analyze and interpret student data for informed decision-making, and the ability to use data to drive instruction and make data-driven decisions.
  • A willingness to occasionally work evenings and attend professional development sessions, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to support student growth and development.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally and within the state, and the ability to pass background checks as required.
