Our team of dedicated professionals is passionate about making a difference in the lives of our patients and communities. **Job Summary** As a Part-Time Remote Customer Service Specialist, you will be responsible for answering a high volume of inbound calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities. You will serve as the initial point of contact and liaison between patients, healthcare facilities, physicians, clinical staff, and practices to facilitate patient healthcare needs. This role requires strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple job aids and resources. **Responsibilities** * Navigate the electronic health record to obtain and validate historical information, capture and document demographic and financial information, and maintain patient privacy and security as outlined by HIPAA. * Manage a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, ensuring resolution to the call and providing excellent customer service in a variety of situations. * Leverage critical thinking with speed and accuracy to identify reason for the call and take appropriate action based on caller need and acuity, researching complex issues in the electronic health record and consulting/escalating to clinical staff when necessary. * Schedule patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verify and update insurance, check insurance eligibility, collect and document demographics, and maintain proficiency in and share knowledge of insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions. * Communicate directly with providers (physicians) to relay pertinent clinical information during after hours, manage calls within established performance and customer service standards, and achieve targeted abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average transaction time. * Provide excellent and consistent customer service in a professional, positive, and respectful manner with patients, providers, blithequark staff, and external organizations. **Requirements** * High School Diploma or GED * 2-5 years of recent healthcare or customer service experience * Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple job aids and resources * Proficiency in electronic health records and insurance basics * Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner (safety-sensitive position) **Preferred Qualifications** * Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service setting * Knowledge of insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions * Experience with electronic health records and clinical documentation * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team **Benefits and Compensation** As a Part-Time Remote Customer Service Specialist with blithequark, you will enjoy a competitive compensation package, including: * Part-time benefit eligibility * Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and legal services available first day of the month after hire date * Disability insurance paid for by blithequark * Pension Plan/403(b) Plan funded by blithequark * 401(k) plan with blithequark match * Tuition Assistance available on first day * BJC Institute for Learning and Development * Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts * Paid Time Off benefit combines vacation, sick days, holidays, and personal time * Adoption assistance **Work Environment and Culture** As a remote employee, you will have the flexibility to work from home and enjoy a comfortable and productive work environment.
