Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled 211 Resource Specialist to join our team in a part-time remote capacity. As a 211 Resource Specialist, you will play a vital role in collecting accurate and up-to-date human services information for a defined population within a defined geographic area. Your expertise will be crucial in organizing and maintaining this information on a searchable system that links people to services, ultimately making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, gather, and analyze information about community health and human services to ensure the accuracy and quality of our resource database.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain relationships with all community health and human service agencies, fostering collaborative relationships and promoting the work of United Way of the Bluegrass.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of our resource database, making updates and maintenance a priority to reflect changes in program services and community resources.
  • Develop reports, maps, and presentations on community resources, providing valuable insights and information to stakeholders and the community.
  • Communicate changes in program services to United Way staff and volunteers, ensuring that everyone is informed and up-to-date on the latest developments.
  • Represent United Way of the Bluegrass at meetings, events, presentations, and other activities, promoting our mission and work to the community.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings, contributing to the development and implementation of department work plans and strategies.
  • Make presentations to community groups to promote United Way and its work, highlighting the impact and importance of our mission.
  • Support the fundraising and grant-making efforts of United Way of the Bluegrass, helping to secure the resources needed to drive positive change in our community.
  • Provide staff support at United Way functions and events, ensuring the success and smooth operation of our activities.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a combination of education, experience, and skills that align with the requirements of the position. These include:

  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited institution preferred, although a sufficient combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of related experience in human services, non-profit, or other related fields, with a preference for remote work experience.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and research skills, with attention to detail and accuracy of information.
  • A positive commitment and ability to work with people from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, respecting traditions, values, and lifestyles of different ethno-cultural groups.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with special populations and stakeholders.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer literacy, with proficiency in MS Office Suite and database knowledge a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a remote or virtual environment, with a proven ability to establish an effective telecommute workspace and manage distractions.
  • Knowledge of human service systems and experience working with community health and human service agencies.
  • Experience with database management and analysis, with the ability to develop reports and presentations on community resources.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable insured automobile for work-related travel when applicable.

Work Environment

This position is 100% remote, requiring you to establish an effective telecommute workspace designed to limit distractions, with ergonomic seating, reliable connectivity, and equipment to enable high productivity. You will need to abide by UWBG's Remote Work Policy and ensure that your workspace meets the necessary requirements.

Expected Work Hours

The expected work hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 30 hours a week, with a scheduled work shift between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM. You may be required to work non-standard work schedules, including nights, weekends, and other unusual hours, as needed.

Physical Requirements

The employee must regularly communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. The employee must be able to transcribe, read extensively, prepare, and analyze data and figures, and operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 20 lbs.

Pre-Employment Screening Requirements

Any candidate offered a position may be required to pass pre-employment screenings as mandated by UWBG, including a national background check, language testing, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.

Benefits

UWBG offers all regular part-time employees PTO accrual (when eligible) and the option of participating in our Section 125 Cafeteria Plan. This plan allows employees to choose from one or more benefits offered and pay for the elected benefits with pre-tax dollars deducted from your payroll. The starting hourly rate for this position is $16.40-18.85.
