Job Overview and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Senior Analyst to join our Credit and Fraud Risk Management team. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for delivering data-driven, decision-making, and high-impact overall loss provision forecasts and credit-risk-related insights. Your primary objectives will include:

  • Conducting in-depth analyses and developing predictive models to gauge credit risk and inform business decisions
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Risk, Collections, Marketing, and Finance, to drive credit-related analytical insights and recommendations
  • Communicating complex data insights and proposals to senior stakeholders and partners across the organization
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends, market developments, and emerging risks to identify opportunities for analysis and process improvements
  • Providing thought leadership on projects across the Global Risk Finance association to help American Express meet its long-term growth objectives

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Developing and maintaining complex data models and analytics tools to support credit risk management and forecasting
  • Analyzing large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions and drive process improvements

  • Communicating complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders and partners, both internally and externally
  • Staying current with industry developments, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in credit risk management and analytics

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong foundation in data analysis, statistics, and modeling, with experience in credit risk management and forecasting
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working with data management tools, such as SQL, SAS, Hive, Python, and Power-BI
  • A bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, such as mathematics, statistics, economics, or computer science

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

While not required, the following qualifications and experience are preferred:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field, such as a master's or Ph.D.
  • Experience working in the financial industry, particularly in credit risk management and analytics
  • Knowledge of big data tools and platforms, such as Hadoop, PIG/HIVE
  • Experience with cloud-based data management and analytics platforms
  • Certifications in data science, analytics, or a related field
