Position Overview – What You’ll Do as a Content Publishing Intern
This internship is designed for ambitious, detail‑oriented students who are eager to gain hands‑on experience in the world of insurance documentation and IT services. Working primarily from the comfort of your home with occasional visits to our Remote office, you will become an integral part of the Content Publishing team within the Property & Casualty IT Services division. You’ll assist in designing, testing, and deploying variable forms and policy documents that directly support our agents, customers, and internal stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities – Your Day‑to‑Day Impact
- Document Design & Development: Utilize Exstream/Inspire Designer to craft variable forms, policy letters, and other customer‑facing documents based on detailed business requirements.
- Word & PDF Production: Convert policy forms created in Microsoft Word into high‑quality PDF files, ensuring formatting consistency and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Content Verification: Perform meticulous compare‑and‑contrast checks between newly built forms and source documents to validate content accuracy.
- Functional Testing: Generate test XML payloads and employ tools such as SoapUI and Postman to simulate real‑world scenarios, confirming that forms behave correctly across various data inputs.
- Data Retrieval: Write basic SQL and Oracle queries to extract form‑related data, supporting downstream reporting and analysis.
- Collaboration & Communication: Participate in daily stand‑up meetings, provide status updates, and actively collaborate with cross‑functional IT teams, business analysts, and subject‑matter experts.
- Process Acumen: Gain exposure to Great American’s IT development lifecycle, including change management, version control, and release processes.

Essential Qualifications – What We’re Looking For
- Academic Performance: Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (3.5 preferred) in a bachelor’s degree program. Graduates expected to complete studies by May 2026 or May 2027 are highly favored.
- Relevant Major: Enrolled in a program such as Digital Media, Business, Information Technology, Communications, or a related field. While programming experience is not required, an interest in technology‑enabled documentation is essential.
- Software Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite—especially Word, Excel, and Outlook—and familiarity with PDF creation tools, XML editing, and basic database querying.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal abilities, with a proven track record of delivering clear, concise updates to diverse audiences.
