As the industry moves toward greater digitalization, NuWare is at the forefront, building platforms that blend data‑driven insights with intuitive user experiences. If you are passionate about transforming the way clinicians and pharmacists work, this contract role offers you a unique platform to influence product strategy, drive market adoption, and make a tangible impact on patient outcomes – all from the comfort of your home office.

Position Overview

This Remote Contract Product Manager role is a full‑time, 12‑month engagement with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs. You will report directly to the Solution and Development Director and partner closely with cross‑functional teams that include engineering, design, marketing, sales, client services, and third‑party vendors. The position is ideal for a product leader with a deep understanding of healthcare workflows—particularly medication ordering, pharmacy dispensing, and related clinical processes—who can translate market needs into a compelling product roadmap and ensure successful delivery of high‑value features.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Product Ownership

  • Vision & Roadmap: Own the product vision for NuWare’s pharmacy‑centric solutions, aligning it with corporate strategy and market demand.
  • Backlog Management: Maintain, prioritize, and continuously refine a feature backlog that includes client requests, enhancements to the client portal, ServiceNow (SNOW) integrations, and emerging regulatory requirements.
  • ROI Definition: Quantify return on investment for each business requirement, ensuring that every initiative supports measurable financial and clinical outcomes.
  • Value Messaging: Collaborate with the Marketing team to craft market‑facing value statements, value wedges, and differentiated positioning that resonate with hospital administrators, pharmacy directors, and clinicians.
  • Product Lifecycle: Drive each feature from concept through design, development, testing, launch, and post‑launch optimization, applying best‑in‑class product management methodologies.

Market & Customer Insight

  • Research & Trend Analysis: Conduct ongoing market research to identify emerging trends, competitor moves, and regulatory changes that could affect product direction.
  • Client Engagement: Lead client portal enhancements, support sales operations, respond to RFPs, and provide demo support for prospective and existing customers.
  • Customer Forums: Design and execute a strategy for client forums, gathering feedback, surfacing pain points, and identifying whitespace opportunities.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with third‑party vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure seamless integration of external components into NuWare’s platform.

Financial & Operational Stewardship

  • P&L Accountability: Contribute to profit‑and‑loss analysis for the product portfolio, recommending pricing strategies and cost optimizations.
  • Scope Management: Work with the Solution Director to make informed scope decisions, balancing technical feasibility with business impact.
  • Roadmap Delivery: Produce and maintain a six‑month product line roadmap, ensuring that deliverables are sequenced for maximum market impact and internal capacity.
  • Business Cases: Develop robust business cases and competitive analyses for new initiatives, securing executive buy‑in and resource allocation.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between engineering, design, sales, client services, and executive leadership, translating technical details into clear business language.
  • Training & Enablement: Communicate best‑practice workflow changes to the Solution Director and coordinate service‑training updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Documentation & Demos: Produce high‑quality product documentation, demos, and sales enablement assets that illustrate value and drive adoption.
  • Contract Renewal: Manage 3rd‑party procurement licenses and contract renewal processes to safeguard continuity and compliance.

Essential Qualifications

  • Healthcare Domain Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in clinical workflow environments, specifically within hospital or pharmacy settings, focusing on medication ordering, dispensing, and related processes.
  • Product Management Expertise: Proven track record of managing complex SaaS or enterprise software products from concept to market, preferably in the health‑tech space.
  • Analytical Acumen: Strong ability to perform ROI analysis, P&L contributions, and data‑driven decision making.
  • Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated success in influencing cross‑functional teams and senior leadership without direct authority.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, capable of delivering clear value propositions to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Remote Collaboration: Experience working in a fully remote or distributed environment, leveraging collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Confluence, JIRA, Teams).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CSPO, PMP) are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of pharmacy information systems (e.g., Epic Willow, Cerner Pharm, McKesson) and electronic prescribing standards (e.g., NCPDP, HL7 FHIR).
  • Experience with ServiceNow (SNOW) or similar ITSM platforms for workflow automation.
  • Background in contract negotiation and vendor management for software integrations.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, and FDA Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) guidance.
  • Proven ability to build and lead customer advisory boards or user groups.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic Planning: Ability to think several moves ahead, anticipating market shifts and aligning product strategy accordingly.
  • Market Research: Proficiency in conducting primary and secondary research, synthesizing findings into actionable product insights.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Mastery of agile methodologies, release planning, and post‑launch performance monitoring.
  • Negotiation & Influence: Skilled at securing favorable terms with vendors and rallying internal support for high‑impact initiatives.
