Position Overview

We are actively recruiting for a dual‑role position that blends the dynamic responsibilities of a Cashier and a Cook. This hybrid role is designed for candidates who thrive in fast‑moving environments, love interacting with customers, and possess a passion for preparing high‑quality food. The role is available on both a full‑time and part‑time basis, with flexible scheduling to accommodate day, night, and weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Cashier Duties – Front‑of‑House Excellence

  • Customer Greeting & Service: Warmly welcome every guest, answer menu questions, and ensure a positive first impression.
  • Order Management: Accurately capture in‑person and phone orders using the POS system, verify customization requests, and communicate any special instructions to the kitchen.
  • Transaction Processing: Handle cash, credit, and digital payments efficiently; issue receipts and provide correct change.
  • Cash Register Reconciliation: Conduct end‑of‑shift cash counts, reconcile sales totals, and report any discrepancies to management promptly.
  • Upselling & Promotions: Promote daily specials, loyalty programs, and add‑on items to increase average ticket revenue.
  • Problem Resolution: Address guest concerns calmly, resolve minor issues on the spot, and escalate complex matters to the manager when needed.
  • Cleanliness & Organization: Keep the register area tidy, restock receipts and bags, and maintain a clutter‑free work surface.

Cook Duties – Back‑of‑House Mastery

  • Station Preparation: Set up cooking stations before each shift, ensuring all ingredients, utensils, and equipment are ready for rapid service.
  • Ingredient Handling: Inspect deliveries for freshness, rotate stock using FIFO (First‑In‑First‑Out) principles, and store items in accordance with food‑safety standards.
  • Food Preparation: Slice, season, and marinate chicken wings and other menu items; operate fryers, grills, and ovens safely.
  • Cooking Execution: Cook menu items to precise temperature and timing specifications, monitor oil quality, and maintain consistent flavor profiles.
  • Plating & Presentation: Assemble orders in an attractive, brand‑consistent manner; ensure each dish meets visual and quality standards before delivery to the guest.
  • Sanitation & Safety: Follow rigorous cleaning schedules; sanitize surfaces, equipment, and utensils after each use; adhere to HACCP guidelines.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate order status to the front‑of‑house team, assist with rush periods, and support fellow cooks during high‑volume moments.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED; culinary school or hospitality coursework is a plus.
  • At least 6 months of experience in a fast‑food or quick‑service environment, performing either cashier or cook duties (or both).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with standard point‑of‑sale (POS) systems and basic computer literacy.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and the ability to perform cash handling and basic math quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with a friendly, patient demeanor when interacting with customers.
  • Solid understanding of food safety practices, including proper handwashing, cross‑contamination prevention, and temperature control.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 lb, and perform repetitive motions typical of kitchen and register work.
  • Reliable transportation to one of our three Tallahassee locations and a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a dual cash‑and‑cook role, demonstrating versatility and adaptability.
  • Certification in food safety (ServSafe, National Restaurant Association certification, or equivalent).
  • Experience with inventory management, order taking via phone, and handling large volume orders.
  • Proficiency in a second language (Spanish is especially valuable in our community).

  • Attention to Detail: Ensures accurate order entry, proper cooking times, and correct cash totals each shift.
  • Problem‑Solving: Quickly resolves issues such as order discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, or guest complaints.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in a high‑pace setting where priorities shift rapidly; comfortable with both scheduled and on‑call duties.
