About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Data Engineer to join our Operations Analytics team. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in harnessing the power of data to drive business outcomes and improve operational efficiency. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data systems, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and address business needs.

Responsibilities

As a Full Stack Data Engineer at Delta Airlines, you will be responsible for:
  • Locating and extracting data from various sources to support business intelligence, modeling, and project development.
  • Cleaning and curating datasets by researching new data sources and collaborating with stakeholders to determine the best source of data, aggregating perspectives into meaningful hierarchies.
  • Developing and maintaining large-scale data systems, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data pipelines.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and address business needs, including developing and implementing data-driven solutions.
  • Supporting strategy development and project control engagements for various business units and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Training and mentoring other team members on various skills and topics.
  • Practicing security-aware behaviors in all operational practices and procedures.
  • Embodying a team-first mindset with the success of our team and business partners as the top priority.
  • Being intellectually curious, asking questions, and communicating ideas effectively.
  • Experiencing working in high-profile environments with fluid priorities, ambiguity, and competitive deadlines.

What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in SQL and ETL/ELT patterns.
  • Proficiency with Python, SAS, or other comparable tools and programming languages.
  • Ability to troubleshoot a reporting database environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously and manage multiple requests with varying timelines.
  • Self-starter with a resilient, solution-minded approach to complex problems working individually or in a team.
  • Consistently prioritizing security and protection of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embracing diverse perspectives, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:
  • Bachelor's degree or certificate in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science, or other applicable quantitative field.
  • Previous airline experience.
  • Working knowledge of and/or experience with cloud-based solutions (i.e., Azure, AWS, GPC, etc.).
