Job Overview

We're seeking an experienced Customer Service Representative to join our team on a temporary, full-time basis for the summer. As a key member of our customer service team, you'll play a critical role in supporting students and families navigating the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process. Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in high-volume outbound and inbound call campaigns based on assigned call lists, providing exceptional customer service and support to students and families.
  • Adhere to approved call scripts and compliance guidelines, ensuring that all customer interactions are professional, respectful, and empathetic.
  • Respond to customer questions and concerns in a timely, accurate manner, utilizing software, scripts, and tools to resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Document all customer encounters in clear, concise online logs, maintaining accurate records and ensuring seamless follow-up and follow-through.
  • Employ active listening skills to understand customer needs and concerns, providing personalized support and guidance to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve complex customer issues, escalating concerns as needed to ensure prompt, effective resolution.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education or training in a related field (e.g., customer service, communications) preferred.
  • Four to six months of customer service experience in a call center environment required; experience working in a college financial aid office or administrative office preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional phone voice and etiquette.
  • Ability to follow instructions and scripts, with strong active listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with computers, software, and technology, with good typing skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of the FAFSA and college financial aid and admissions processes preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a college financial aid office or administrative office, with knowledge of financial aid processes and procedures.
  • Experience working with students and families from diverse backgrounds, with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing underserved communities.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers who speak languages other than English.
  • Experience working in a remote or virtual environment, with strong self-motivation and discipline.
