Job Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, working collaboratively with other Ground Operations Teams, and ensuring that our flights depart on schedule. As a Ramp Agent, you will work in an outdoor environment, coordinating the movement of aircraft on the ground, handling freight and baggage, and performing various tasks to guarantee the efficient operation of our ground activities. Key Responsibilities
• Offer friendly assistance to and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external Customers.
• Work in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of our Organization.
• Provide excellent Customer service to individuals wishing to travel, use freight or baggage service by marshaling aircraft at ramps and terminals.
• Load, unload, service, guide, and direct Company Aircraft.
• Receive and record Customer baggage, airship cargo, mail, and company materials as required.
• Handle all aspects of loading, stowing, and unloading baggage, freight, airmail, airship cargo, balance, and company materials according to a predetermined sequence received either electronically or physically from a Operations Specialist.
• Transport freight and baggage to and from aircraft and prepare records regarding these duties.
• Warehouse, weigh, load, receive, and deliver air freight, check air freight handled against accompanying documents to identify any mishandling or discrepancies, and correct routine errors.
• Protect Clients' baggage, air freight, air mail, and COMAT from weather, loss, theft, damage, or destruction.
• Use jetway stairs frequently to carry items checked at the gate to the aircraft bin.
• Review freight documents for accuracy and correct documents as necessary.
• Perform interior aircraft cabin cleaning manually, including sweeping upholstery, cleaning windows, galleys, and lavatories as per relevant paperwork.
• Clean and service lavatories, operate toilet trucks, and dispose of contents according to established procedures.
• May perform duties of a Provisioning Agent, including loading aircraft cabin interiors for flights with equipment and supplies like literature, lavatory, and galley items as per relevant paperwork. Maintains a stock of such items and supplies.
• Transport cabin and cleaning equipment between aircraft parking areas.
• Operate and/or drive mechanized equipment, such as belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, pushback tractors, bag trucks, toilet trucks, and de-icers.
• Physically maneuver push trucks and containers.
• Work on and between passenger terminals, concourses, and airfreight facilities, both inside and outside.
• May be exposed to a wide range of weather conditions, noise, and equipment fumes, dirt, and dust for extended periods.
• Complete forms and paperwork associated with work tasks according to established procedures and enter such data into the Company's information system as required.
• Duties vary by size and organization of station.
• Offer friendly support to all Colleagues and Customers. Has routine contact with individuals outside the Organization like delivery agents, carriers, etc.
• Must be able to meet any physical capacity requirements listed on this description.
• May perform other work duties as directed by Employee's Supervisors.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a Bachelor's Degree and have a strong ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. You should be able to understand documents, follow instructions, learn and comprehend ramp operations procedures, rules, and regulations. The ability to work under close time limitations to achieve quick turns of aircraft is essential, as is the capacity to satisfy all grooming guidelines as framed in the Ground Operations Worker Handbook and the Employment Agreement.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, previous experience in a similar role or within the aviation industry would be highly advantageous. The ability to communicate effectively and work under stressful conditions is crucial. You should be aware of hazardous situations and be able to handle emergencies as needed. A strong understanding of safety procedures and the ability to use radio equipment are also desirable.
