Position Profile The Digital Archivist is responsible for the stewardship of born-digital and digitized materials and for leading the academic library's Digitization Hub and Scholars Lab-an innovative space supporting digitization, digital scholarship, video production, and preservation initiatives. This position plays a critical role in ensuring long-term access to digital content and providing creative support for faculty, students, and community collaborators. The role also includes responsibility for grant writing, digital storytelling, teaching, and public outreach. Applicant Evaluative Criteria Applicant profiles and supplementary materials will be evaluated for appointment based on the following: Education All applicants must possess a Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program, or equivalent degree in public history, archives, digital curation, or a related field. Experience and Training • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with digital archives, digital preservation, or digitization projects. • Experience in developing and implementing policies for acquiring, preserving, and providing access to born-digital and digitized archival collections. • Experience with managing the operation of a Digital Lab, including digitization, scanning, audio/video editing, and media production equipment. • Experience with at least one digital repository (such as the Connecticut Digital Archive or Digital Public Library of America). • Proficiency with 2D and 3D digital imaging equipment and software (including Adobe Creative Cloud). • Experience preserving born-digital materials such as applications, video games, datasets, or websites. • Knowledge of digital preservation standards (FADGI, OAIS, METS, PREMIS) and metadata schemas (Dublin Core, MODS, EAD). • Knowledge of copyright and rights management for digital content and public use. • Experience in providing research support and consultation services • Strong organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills. Ideal Candidate Preference will be given to applicants with the following: • Experience in video and/or audio editing tools and workflows. • Familiarity with digital storytelling, oral history, and exhibit platforms (e.g., Omeka, StoryMaps). • Experience developing community-engaged digital humanities or archival projects. • Experience teaching workshops or class sessions on topics such as digital preservation, metadata, copyright, and digital storytelling. • Experience in the development of digital exhibits, oral history projects, and multimedia publications. • Supervision experience with staff supporting digital initiatives. • Experience with grant writing and managing externally funded projects.
