With a focus on fun learning adventures, we strive to create a sense of community and belonging among our students, parents, and staff. **Job Summary** We're looking for an experienced Group Leader to join our team at Lakeview Elementary School in Portsmouth, VA. As a Group Leader, you'll be responsible for leading a group of student explorers through exciting adventures in fitness, the arts, technology, and more. You'll work collaboratively with peers to ignite children's sense of wonder, encourage creativity and intellectual curiosity, and provide a caring, family-oriented environment where positive staff, child, and parent relationships are fostered. **Key Responsibilities** * Lead a group of student explorers through exciting adventures in fitness, the arts, technology, and more * Work collaboratively with peers to ignite children's sense of wonder * Encourage creativity and intellectual curiosity by building on students' interests and talents * Provide a caring, family-oriented environment where positive staff, child, and parent relationships are fostered * Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and activities that cater to the unique needs of each child * Communicate effectively with parents and staff to ensure a smooth and successful program * Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge **Essential Qualifications** * High school diploma or GED * At least 18 years old * 3 months experience instructing children in a group setting * Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing needs * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work effectively in a team environment * Passion for working with children and promoting their educational and recreational growth **Preferred Qualifications** * Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field * Experience working in a before and after school program or similar setting * Certification in first aid and CPR * Bilingual or multilingual skills **Skills and Competencies** * Strong leadership and organizational skills * Ability to think creatively and develop innovative lesson plans and activities * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work effectively in a team environment * Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills * Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities * Passion for working with children and promoting their educational and recreational growth **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** At AlphaBEST, we believe in investing in our staff's growth and development.
