About the Hulu Originals Documentary Development Internship

The Hulu Originals Documentary Development team is seeking an exceptional intern to join our growing team for the Summer/Fall 2025 season. As a Development Intern, you will have the opportunity to experience the day-to-day efforts of a streaming network documentary development department, gaining a solid perspective of the market and the industry overall. You will work closely with our Documentary executives, Development executives, and assistant, as well as cross-functional partners, to ensure the success of our documentary projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside Documentary executives on assignments as needed, providing support and expertise to drive project success.
  • Track, organize, and manage incoming documentary submissions and materials on past and current shows, collaborating with Development executives and assistant to ensure seamless project management.
  • Assist in building and maintaining competitive industry tracking documents, developing an understanding of the documentary and nonfiction industry, and staying up-to-date on the latest trends and developments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure they have the latest nonfiction creative updates and information, fostering a culture of open communication and collaboration.
  • Assist with reviewing creative materials and providing strong written feedback, helping to shape the creative direction of our documentary projects.
  • Research and track potential IP for potential development, identifying new opportunities and ideas to drive growth and innovation.

Required Qualifications & Skills

To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Passion for media and entertainment, with a focus on documentary features or limited series.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and efficient time management, with the ability to take on multiple projects at a given time.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a can-do, proactive attitude and positive, collaborative demeanor.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication capabilities, as well as attention to detail, with the ability to provide strong written feedback and communicate effectively with cross-functional partners.

Preferred Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with the following preferred qualifications:

  • Previous television extracurricular or internship experience, with a strong understanding of the documentary development process.
  • An interest in pursuing a career in documentary development, with a passion for storytelling and a desire to learn and grow.

Education

To be eligible for this internship, you must be:

  • Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree, taking at least one class at the time of application.
  • Currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Please note the following eligibility requirements and program information:

  • Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the above requirements.
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship, with a commitment to working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm PT.
  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Burbank, California area.
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work.

Compensation & Benefits
