Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Childcare Cook and Tutor to join our team at Tutor Time of West Haven. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for our enrolled children, while also providing educational support and guidance as a tutor. Key Responsibilities

As a Childcare Cook and Tutor, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing home-style, nutritional meal plans that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our children, while adhering to state and federal regulations.
  • Preparing and serving meals and snacks to children and staff, and distributing food to classrooms as needed.
  • Maintaining inventory of food and supplies, and ordering more when needed to ensure a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
  • Assisting in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater, providing educational support and guidance to children.
  • Working collaboratively with our Director and other team members to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our children.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility, preferably.
  • A willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations, including USDA, licensing, and health department requirements.
  • Flexibility as to the hours and schedule of work, including the ability to work remotely and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, staff, and parents.
  • A passion for early education and a commitment to providing high-quality care and support to our children.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be an asset in this role:
  • Experience working with children of diverse ages and abilities.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and practices.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages, preferably.
  • Experience with menu planning and food preparation for large groups.
