As a Lead Data Engineer at blithequark, you will be part of a talented team of professionals who are passionate about harnessing the power of data to drive business growth and improve customer experiences. **Job Summary** We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our Information and Investigation group for Disney Web-based features (DSS), a section under the Disney Diversion and ESPN Innovation (DE&ET). As a Lead Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and developing advanced data solutions that drive business insights and inform strategic decision-making. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data warehousing solutions, ETL pipelines, and data models that meet the needs of our business stakeholders. **Key Responsibilities** * Collaborate with Information Item Chiefs, Information Modelers, and Information Architects to design, implement, and deliver successful data solutions * Develop and maintain detailed documentation of your work and changes to ensure data quality and data governance * Ensure high functional productivity and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and support obligations to our clients (Information Science, Information Examination groups) * Participate in agile/scrum practices to ensure team well-being and cycle enhancements * Design and develop versatile information warehousing solutions, building ETL pipelines in Large Information conditions (cloud, on-prem, hybrid) * Help engineer data solutions/structures and define data models for the core data warehouse and data shops * Work with our tech stack, which includes Hadoop, AWS, Snowflake, Flash, and Wind stream, and languages such as Python, Scala **Essential Qualifications** * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field * Strong SQL skills and ability to write queries to extract data and build performant datasets * Experience with distributed frameworks like Hadoop (HDFS, Hive, Voila, PySpark) to query and process data * Strong programming skills in Python, Java/Scala * Experience with at least one major MPP or cloud database technology (Snowflake, Redshift, Large Query) * Strong involvement in data integration toolsets (i.e. Wind current) and writing and maintaining data pipelines * Strong understanding of data modeling strategies and data warehousing standard practices and procedures * Familiarity with Scrum and Agile approaches **Preferred Qualifications** * Experience with cloud advances like AWS (S3, EMR, EC2) * Strong problem-solving skills with excellent analytical and relational abilities * Experience with data visualization tools and techniques * Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts and applications **Work Environment and Culture** As a Lead Data Engineer at blithequark, you will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team that values innovation, creativity, and teamwork.
