Position Overview – FY24 Spanish Instructor (Remote)

We are seeking a passionate, highly qualified Spanish Instructor to join our World Languages and Cultures Department for the FY24 academic year. This full‑time, tenure‑track position is 100 % remote, allowing you to teach from any location while engaging with a dynamic, multicultural student body. The role carries a teaching load of **15 contact hours per week** and may include evening, online, or split‑section assignments. Key Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • Education: Master's degree in Spanish; OR a bachelor's degree in Spanish combined with a master's in another language, linguistics, or a related field. Equivalent qualifications may be considered.
  • Language proficiency: Demonstrated superior fluency in both Spanish and English.
  • Diversity awareness: Sensitivity to and understanding of the varied cultural, socioeconomic, and demographic backgrounds of community college students.

Preferred (Desirable) Qualifications

  • Advanced graduate work (Ph.D. or additional master’s) focusing on Spanish language, literature, or Hispanic studies.
  • Extensive scholarly record or research experience in Spanish linguistics, literature, or pedagogy.
  • Proven success teaching Spanish heritage‑speaker courses.
  • Experience designing and leading study‑away or immersion programs in Spanish‑speaking countries.
  • Familiarity with Latin‑American literary studies, including works in translation.
