As we continue to expand, we are seeking a passionate, innovative, and supportive Lead Teacher who will spearhead classroom excellence in our Phenix City, AL community while enjoying the flexibility of a remote work model.

Why This Role Is a Game‑Changer for Your Career

In today’s fast‑changing educational landscape, the Lead Teacher is more than a classroom manager; you are an instructional leader, a mentor to fellow educators, and a trusted partner for families. This position offers an immediate start for candidates who are eager to translate their love for early childhood education into tangible impact. You will guide curriculum implementation, model best practices for health and safety, and champion inclusive, play‑based learning that aligns with our proprietary science‑based curriculum. Your contributions will shape the daily experiences of children aged six weeks to twelve years, enabling them to blossom academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities – Building a Thriving Learning Environment

As the Lead Teacher, you will wear many hats. Your day‑to‑day activities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Classroom Atmosphere: Create and maintain a safe, warm, and inviting space that is clean, organized, and reflective of our brand standards.
  • Curriculum Delivery: Follow our science‑based, proprietary curriculum while integrating supplemental activities that meet each child’s developmental needs.
  • Family Communication: Provide daily updates to families regarding student progress, celebrate milestones, and address any concerns to foster strong home‑center partnerships.
  • Community Engagement: Build strong professional relationships with parents, local stakeholders, and colleagues to encourage involvement and community support.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Maintain meticulous records—including attendance, child portfolios, USDA meal documentation, and licensing reports—to meet state and accreditation requirements.
  • Meal Preparation: Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks that comply with USDA guidelines and support children’s health.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor assistant teachers and support staff, modelling best instructional practices and fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Center Success Initiatives: Partner with center leadership to achieve goals related to enrollment growth, accreditation standards, and family engagement metrics.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in professional development workshops, share insights from classroom observations, and contribute ideas for curriculum enhancements.

Essential Qualifications – What You Bring to the Table

We are looking for candidates who possess a blend of experience, education, and personal attributes that align with our standards of excellence.

  • Genuine warmth, empathy, and an authentic understanding of the needs of young children and their families.
  • At least 1‑3 years of hands‑on teaching experience in a licensed early childhood setting, or a comparable certification (we will support you in obtaining required credentials if needed).
  • High school diploma or GED; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Successful completion of a state‑required criminal background check and adherence to all local licensing, quality rating, and accreditation standards.
  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—to effectively collaborate with coworkers, parents, and children.
  • A positive attitude, resilient self‑image, and a commitment to innovative, creative teaching methods.

Preferred Qualifications – Going the Extra Mile

  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification (e.g., CDA, CCDF, or State‑Specific License).
  • Experience leading a team of teachers or serving as a mentor/coordinator in a preschool or childcare setting.
  • Familiarity with child assessment tools, portfolio development, and individualized learning plans.
  • Proficiency with digital record‑keeping platforms and online learning management systems.
  • Training or certification in First Aid/CPR, nutrition, or developmental therapy techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology responsibly into early learning experiences.

Core Skills & Competencies – The Blueprint for Success

Beyond formal qualifications, the following competencies are essential for thriving in this role:

  • Instructional Leadership: Ability to design, deliver, and assess curriculum that aligns with developmental milestones.
  • Relationship Building: Skillful at fostering trusting relationships with families, children, and staff.
  • Organizational Excellence: Strong time‑management and record‑keeping capabilities to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Creative Problem‑Solving: Quick, thoughtful responses to unexpected challenges, such as behavioral concerns or health emergencies.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Sensitivity to the diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio‑economic backgrounds of families.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a remote‑first environment while maintaining visible leadership within the classroom.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities – Invest in Your Future

  • Leadership Pathways: Clear progression routes toward roles such as Center Director, Regional Training Coordinator, or Curriculum Specialist.
  • Mentorship Programs: Pairing with seasoned leaders to cultivate coaching skills and broaden your impact across multiple centers.
  • Conference Attendance: Opportunities to represent our network at national early childhood education conferences, expanding your professional network.
