About the Department of Communication Studies
The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Denver is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive educational environment. We offer a B.A. or a minor in communication studies, and our students are encouraged to explore the many facets of communication.
About the Role
As a Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor, you will be responsible for teaching four courses over three quarters. Your primary responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate general education and communication studies major courses. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach the introductory Practicing Communication and Theorizing Communication courses. You will also be expected to contribute to the department's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach four courses over three quarters
* Teach undergraduate general education and communication studies major courses
* Teach the introductory Practicing Communication and Theorizing Communication courses (preferred)
* Contribute to the department's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
* Develop and implement effective teaching methods and curricular perspectives to engage diverse populations and learning styles
* Participate in departmental service and committee work
Essential Qualifications
* MA in Communication Studies or related discipline
* Excellent university-level teaching experience in communication studies
* Strong understanding of the communication discipline and its many facets
* Ability to teach a variety of courses, including introductory and upper-level courses
* Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Ph.D. in Communication Studies (or related discipline)
* Experience teaching a diverse range of students, including students from underrepresented groups
* Experience developing and implementing innovative teaching methods and curricular perspectives
* Experience with curriculum development and assessment
* Experience with departmental service and committee work
