Job Overview:

As a Youth ESOL Teacher at the IRC, you will play a critical role in supporting the educational and linguistic needs of middle and high school students from immigrant backgrounds. You will design and deliver engaging and academically rigorous ESOL classes, both online and in-person, to help students develop their English language skills and achieve their academic goals. Your expertise and passion for teaching ESOL will make a tangible difference in the lives of these students, empowering them to succeed in school and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

* Plan and deliver high-quality ESOL classes for middle and high school students, using culturally responsive strategies and materials that cater to diverse learning styles and needs. * Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs, using standardized assessments and progress monitoring tools. * Collaborate with the Youth Education Supervisor and team members to ensure seamless program implementation and student support. * Document attendance, progress, and other relevant data to inform instruction and program evaluation. * Support student enrollment in the ESOL program and provide guidance on academic and linguistic support services. * Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in ESOL instruction. * Perform other tasks as needed to support the Youth Education Department and ensure program success.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in education, teaching, or a related field required; ESL teaching certification (TEFL/TESOL) highly preferred. * Experience teaching ESOL to youth from culturally diverse backgrounds using culturally responsive strategies. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to be clear and concise in all communications. * Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. * Experience with data collection and analysis, with the ability to interpret and apply data to inform instruction. * Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and communication. * Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with experience using educational software and technology. * Fluency in English language required; second language proficiency in relevant language highly desirable (including Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, and French). * Flexibility to work on Saturdays and evenings based on program requirements.
