As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented and diverse group of individuals who share your values and are dedicated to creating a world where no animal is ever euthanized for lack of a home. **About the Role** As an Experienced Manager, Embed Project Operations, you will be part of our National Shelter Embed team, working with animal sheltering agencies nationwide to implement proven strategies to increase lifesaving. This is a unique and challenging opportunity to make a meaningful impact in communities across the country. You will work side-by-side with shelter leadership and staff, helping them optimize operations and save lives. Your expertise and guidance will be instrumental in helping shelters achieve their goals and improve the lives of animals in their care. **Key Responsibilities** * Work with animal sheltering agencies nationwide to implement proven strategies to increase lifesaving * Collaborate with shelter leadership and staff to optimize operations and improve animal welfare * Develop and implement action plans to address specific needs and priorities, including biosecurity, pathway planning, outreach, and animal control * Provide guidance and support to shelter staff to help them achieve their goals and improve animal welfare * Work with internal and external stakeholders, including government officials, to advocate for animal welfare and promote Best Friends' positions on issues * Develop and maintain relationships with volunteers, donors, and other stakeholders to support Best Friends' mission and goals * Travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, to work with shelters and other organizations to promote animal welfare and lifesaving * Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices and emerging trends in animal sheltering and field services programming **Essential Qualifications** * 5+ years of experience in leadership roles within animal shelters, with a comprehensive understanding of proven animal sheltering and field operations strategies to increase dog and cat lifesaving * Strong leadership skills, with the ability to act decisively and get things done in fast-paced and challenging situations * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, including shelter staff, volunteers, donors, and government officials * Ability to work in a shelter environment, including organizations where cats and dogs are currently being killed for space * Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and familiarity with shelter software/animal management software * Valid driver's license and ability to travel and/or drive on behalf of Best Friends, including overnight stays, when needed **Preferred Qualifications** * Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills, with the ability to converse in conversational Spanish * Experience with implementing or confidence in change management * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously * Experience working with volunteers and donors, with a strong understanding of the importance of building relationships and engaging stakeholders * Familiarity with non-judgmental philosophies and customer-centric approaches to engaging with adopters, partners, visitors, volunteers, and colleagues **Skills and Competencies** * Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve their goals * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people * Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions * Ability to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, and work in a variety of settings, including shelters and other organizations * Strong commitment to animal welfare and lifesaving, with a passion for making a meaningful impact in communities across the country **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop your skills and expertise in a dynamic and supportive environment.
