Why Join Workwarp & NCFE?

Workwarp partners with the National Certificate for Further Education (NCFE) – a 170‑year‑old organisation dedicated to improving learning outcomes for millions of learners across the United Kingdom. As part of the External Quality Assurance (EQA) team, you will be at the heart of a mission that strives to make education more inclusive, equitable, and future‑ready. Our flexible workforce model empowers you to blend professional impact with personal freedom, giving you the autonomy to decide when, where, and how you work.

Role Overview – Remote Moderator (Sport Studies)

This position is a flexible worker contract that allows you to work remotely from any location in the United Kingdom. The role is centred on moderation activities that validate the quality of assessments submitted by centres delivering the Sport Studies qualification. You will be responsible for reviewing marking schemes, evaluating student submissions, and producing clear, evidence‑based reports—all within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) during the moderation window that runs from 17 May 2025 to 31 July 2025.

Key Dates

  • Start Date: Immediate – we are looking for talent that can begin as soon as possible.
  • Closing date for applications: Tuesday 29 October 2024
  • Group interview: Date to be confirmed (TBC)

As a Remote Sport Studies Moderator you will:

  • Conduct thorough moderation reviews of centre marking, ensuring alignment with NCFE quality‑assurance guidelines and the specific standards of the Level 1/2 Technical Award in Sport Studies.
  • Collect and analyse evidence in accordance with instructions from the Chief Moderator, documenting findings in detailed moderation reports that meet SLA expectations.
  • Participate in internal standardisation meetings, contributing insights and sharing best practices with fellow moderators and quality‑assurance staff.
  • Plan and schedule moderation activities for allocated providers, applying NCFE’s sampling strategy and proactively addressing potential gaps in assessment quality.
  • Monitor compliance with Awarding Organisation (AO) and regulatory requirements, flagging any inconsistencies or concerns promptly.
  • Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) within the sport education domain, staying up‑to‑date with curriculum changes, assessment methodologies, and sector trends.
  • Provide constructive feedback to centres, helping them enhance marking practices and improve learner outcomes.
  • Uphold NCFE’s behavioural framework and core values in all interactions, fostering a culture of integrity, collaboration, and high performance.

  • Exceptional written communication skills, with a proven ability to produce clear, concise, and well‑structured moderation reports.
  • Self‑motivation and organisational prowess, enabling you to manage your workload independently while meeting tight deadlines.
