Role Snapshot – Remote Group Fitness Instructor (San Diego)

Location: Remote (servicing San Diego members)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver the Equinox Experience: Conduct engaging, safe, and results‑driven classes in strength, conditioning, dance, cardio, sculpt, boxing, and martial arts.
  • Class Management: Begin and end each session on time, maintain a smooth flow, and adjust intensity to suit diverse participant needs.
  • Intensity Monitoring: Continuously assess participants’ effort levels, offering real‑time cues and modifications to ensure optimal training zones.
  • Curriculum Consistency: Follow class descriptions meticulously while infusing your unique teaching style, ensuring brand consistency across all virtual sessions.
  • Member Feedback Loop: Capture and relay member insights, equipment concerns, and scheduling needs to the Group Fitness Manager.
  • Substitute Management: Minimize the need for substitute instructors by maintaining reliable attendance and communicating any potential conflicts early.
  • Professional Development: Pursue ongoing education, certifications, and industry trends to keep classes fresh, innovative, and aligned with the latest fitness science.
  • Safety & Compliance: Uphold CPR/AED certification, enforce proper form, and ensure that all exercises comply with ACSM guidelines and contraindication standards.

Essential Qualifications

  • Certified Expertise: Current Group Fitness Certification from ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM, or equivalent.
  • CPR/AED Certification: Active certification required to ensure member safety.
  • Foundational Knowledge: Strong grasp of anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, and ACSM recommendations for frequency, intensity, duration, and mode.
  • Instructional Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead group classes in at least two of the following modalities: strength & conditioning, dance, cardio, sculpt, boxing, or martial arts.
  • Communication Skills: Clear, energetic, and motivational speaking style that can translate through virtual platforms.
  • Personality Fit: Friendly, vibrant, outgoing, and genuinely enthusiastic about helping others achieve their fitness aspirations.
