About the Role

As a Title I Tutor, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of our written, taught, tested, and reported curriculum, with a focus on maximizing student achievement in math and reading. You will work closely with classroom teachers, Building Administrators, and other staff members to identify the instructional needs of each Title I student and develop targeted strategies to help them reach their full potential. This is a remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home, and is scheduled for 29 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer reading and math tests to identify the level of student achievement and inform instruction
  • Work with classroom teachers and Building Administrators to determine the instructional needs of each Title I student
  • Provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in reading and math to support student learning and progress
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student files and records, including progress tracking and data collection
  • Assist the Federal Programs Office in gathering data and preparing reports for state and federal agencies
  • Attend inservice classes, building meetings, monthly program meetings, and district meetings to stay current on best practices and district initiatives
  • Prepare the tutoring area for instructional activities, including constructing learning materials and operating equipment as needed
  • Communicate with parents and families as directed by teachers or administrators to ensure a collaborative approach to student support
  • Maintain high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality in all aspects of the role

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a minimum of 48 college credits or a minimum score of 460 on the ParaPro Praxis. You should also have knowledge and skill in the teaching and use of math and reading, including the ability to pronounce vowels, consonants, phrases, and words in a phonetically correct manner. Additionally, you should be able to administer standardized and other diagnostic tests, demonstrate an aptitude for the work to be performed, and have the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a tutor or in a related field, preferably in a Title I setting
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and other software applications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other staff members
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on student-centered support
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations related to Title I programming
