About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and production of our data analysis tools. As a member of the Notebook and API team, your work will have a direct impact on the productivity of data engineers, data scientists, and machine learning engineers. You will be responsible for building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems, designing and implementing APIs and SDKs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive operational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable and efficient data analysis tools using Python and other relevant technologies
  • Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to build tools that meet their needs and enhance their productivity
  • Lead operational initiatives and work closely with engineers, product managers, and technical program managers from various teams
  • Develop and maintain APIs and SDKs that provide programming access to the data platform
  • Work with big data technologies and orchestration tools such as Spark, Presto/Trino, Druid, and Snowflake
  • Build and operate fault-tolerant distributed systems that can handle large volumes of data
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the overall code quality

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience building APIs/SDKs and large-scale distributed system applications
  • Extensive experience with Python and Python package management tools
  • Experience with GraphQL integration and development
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply software engineering principles to real-world business needs

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable:

  • Experience with data science tools such as Jupyter Notebooks, Pandas, and NumPy
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-Learn
  • Experience with big data technologies and orchestration tools such as Spark, Presto/Trino, Druid, and Snowflake
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau and Looker
  • Experience building front-end applications using React, Node, or other relevant technologies

Skills and Competencies

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Strong programming skills in Python and other relevant languages
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
