About the Role: Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) – Part-Time
We are seeking an experienced and certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) to join our team on a part-time basis. Key Responsibilities
- Become an integral part of our team, leveraging your specialized knowledge and patient storytelling skills to categorize, code, summarize, interpret, and mine registry/case information from nuanced, unstructured patient medical records.
- Perform data collection (abstracting) and reporting on eligible cancer cases under current state mandates and national accrediting agencies, ensuring a high accuracy threshold.
- Support our partners' CoC Accreditation process with strong cancer registry operations, creation of policies and procedures, utilization of NCBD quality tools, and knowledge of how all standards support quality patient care.
- Engage in a variety of educational opportunities, including on-the-job learning guided by our in-house Quality & Education Team, easily accessible CEUs, and paid time for continuing education to stay updated on the latest in cancer registry management.
- Contribute to team best practices, data dictionaries, abstraction guidelines, and other business rule documents, identifying process improvement opportunities to help streamline tasks and processes.
- Participate in our culture of perpetual learning and meaningful collaboration, supporting the development of your colleagues, including team members who recently obtained their ODS-C (CTR) and Clinical Data Support Specialists.
Essential Qualifications
- Must be the proud recipient of a CTR (ODS-C) Certification, demonstrating your expertise in cancer registry management.
- Must have at least 2+ years of experience abstracting with an ODS certification, showcasing your ability to work with precision and accuracy in data collection and analysis.
- Direct data abstraction experience in the Cancer Registry, with exposure to patient medical record systems (EMRs) and clinical databases, is essential for success in this role.
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Microsoft Excel) is required for data analysis and reporting purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at or with a CoC Accredited facility is highly desirable, as it indicates a deep understanding of the standards and processes involved in cancer care accreditation.
- Previous experience with cancer registry software and systems is a plus, as it will enable you to hit the ground running in our fast-paced environment.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
