Job Description Overview

This role is responsible for processing patient invoices with credit balances, recoups, adjustments, and unidentified payments for Anesthesia groups while maintaining accuracy and production. As an Overpayment Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our patients receive accurate and timely refunds for overpayments. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently will be essential in achieving our goals and delivering exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and process guarantor, government payers, and commercial insurance overpayments for all groups to determine who is to be refunded.
  • Process correspondence related to credit balances and process transfer of payment and cancelled check research forms.
  • Process invoices in assigned worklist and strive to maintain view age at 30 days or less.
  • Assemble appropriate documentation to validate refunds.
  • Contact insurance carriers/guarantors as necessary on credit balances, offsets, and unidentified payments.
  • Report any error trends identified that affects accounts from being processed correctly.
  • Research unidentified invoices and report to determine the appropriate application of payments identified.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous medical billing experience is preferred, but not required. A minimum of one year of experience in medical billing, excellent communication skills, and ability to meet deadlines and production goals are required.
  • Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, high accuracy performance, and good computer skills are essential.
  • Work Environment: Must be able to work independently and in a close team environment.

Training and Onboarding

This role requires a 12-week on-site training period in Louisville, TN. During this time, you will receive comprehensive training and support to ensure your success in the role. After completing the training period, you will be able to work remotely and enjoy the flexibility and benefits that come with it.
