We are seeking a Medical Officer to report directly to the Senior Director of the Medical Affairs (MA) Medical Utility and Product Support team, with full commitment to supporting the Core and Specialty Laboratory Solutions (CLS and SLS) Diagnostics business units. This role involves cross-MA and cross-functional collaboration with key internal stakeholders, including Regulatory Affairs, Global Research & Development, Post-market Quality, Government & Policy, and Marketing. The Medical Officer will contribute to articulating unmet clinical needs and medical safety needs to inform clinical product development and engage in external activities to communicate the value of Siemens Diagnostics, while fostering strong relationships with customers and external experts. Key Responsibilities: Identify and articulate unmet clinical needs to guide the innovative application of existing and new laboratory diagnostic products. Collaborate within the Medical Affairs team to recommend enhancements to current products and contribute to the development of new solutions, ensuring alignment with global standards of care and advanced clinical practices. Partner with Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Affairs during design and execution of robust registration strategies, offering medical guidance to uphold product safety and efficacy in regulatory submissions. Support the communication and implementation of value-based strategies for CLS and SLS products, ensuring compelling evidence of medical benefits and risks are presented to regulatory authorities, professional societies, and healthcare providers. Provide expert medical assessments and customer support to global product support teams on post-market safety and performance, coordinating within Medical Affairs and cross-functional stakeholders. Advise Marketing on medical messaging to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with Siemens Healthineers’ strategic positioning and regulatory requirements Help to facilitate educational initiatives by identifying and engaging your network of external partners. Serve as a Medical Affairs subject matter expert to product portfolio teams, offering clinical insights for pre- and post-market surveillance based on key opinion leader and customer input and current medical literature. Cultivate and maintain relationships with strategic partners and key opinion leaders throughout the product lifecycle to identify evolving clinical needs. Actively engage in scientific exchange at professional conferences and committee meetings, contributing expertise on laboratory diagnostics in support of patient care and Siemens Diagnostics strategy. Experience and Education: Board-certified PhD, MD or MD/PhD in clinical chemistry/laboratory medicine or clinical pathologist (or similar focused training in laboratory medicine) 3+ years of hands-on laboratory medicine experience (i.e. within a clinical laboratory setting) Experience across chemistry and immunoassay disciplines and knowledge of general laboratory medicine and clinical best practices and regulations Expertise in clinical risks and benefits related to laboratory test result use and experience in providing interpretation for clinicians in the context of patient care Expertise in neurology and/or metabolic syndrome biomarkers strongly preferred Previous in vitro diagnostic industry experience preferred Competencies and Key Skills: Extensive knowledge of general laboratory medicine best practices and regulations related to assay validation and clinical performance assessment, especially for immunoassay and chemistry instruments and assays. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks for oneself and coordinate tasks with others Advanced negotiation and influencing capabilities to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively within a highly interconnected team Proven ability to partner across functions in a global organizational environment and communicate messaging effectively; establishes trust and partnership with colleagues Flexibility to conduct business effectively both virtually and in person, including occasional work outside standard hours to accommodate global stakeholders Excellent verbal and written communication, with the capacity to distill complex information into clear, concise messages Experience engaging with external stakeholders, such as patient advocacy groups, collaborative networks, and professional medical associations Travel approximately 10% or less Who we are: We are a team of more than 72,000 highly dedicated Healthineers in more than 70 countries. The base pay range for this position is: Min $189,950 - Max $284,930 Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
