Why Join FedEx Dataworks?

FedEx Dataworks sits at the intersection of global logistics and cutting‑edge technology. Building on the legacy of FedEx – a company that moves nearly 20 million packages a day – Dataworks translates massive data streams into actionable insights that power smarter supply chains worldwide. Our mission is to turn complex data into elegant, human‑centered experiences that solve real‑world problems for customers, partners, and the planet. If you thrive in a fast‑moving, data‑rich environment and love crafting intuitive, beautiful products, this is the place where your design vision can make a tangible impact.

Position Overview

We are looking for passionate, self‑motivated designers at both senior and lead levels who can work remotely from anywhere in the United States. Whether you are advancing your career as a Senior Product Designer or stepping into a Lead Product Designer role, you will be at the core of our Innovation Incubator, helping to discover, prototype, and launch the next generation of digital solutions for supply‑chain optimization, e‑commerce, and emerging Web3 technologies.

Key Responsibilities – Senior Product Designer

  • Translate strategic objectives into clear design concepts, creating detailed artifacts such as journey maps, service blueprints, wireframes, high‑fidelity mocks, and interactive prototypes.
  • Facilitate cross‑functional workshops that bring together product managers, engineers, researchers, and business stakeholders to surface user needs and align on design direction.
  • Develop and maintain a robust design system—including UI components, patterns, and style guides—to ensure visual consistency across multiple product lines.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and card‑sorting sessions in partnership with the Lead UX Researcher to validate assumptions and iterate quickly.
  • Communicate design rationale persuasively, using storytelling techniques to secure buy‑in from senior leadership and external partners.
  • Mentor junior teammates, sharing best practices in design thinking, prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite), and user‑centered methodology.
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in Web3, e‑commerce, and supply‑chain technology, applying new insights to create innovative product experiences.

Key Responsibilities – Lead Product Designer

  • Own the end‑to‑end UX strategy for multiple high‑impact projects, guiding teams through research, ideation, design, testing, and delivery.
  • Lead design critiques and workshops, fostering a culture of constructive feedback, rapid iteration, and shared ownership of design outcomes.
  • Shape and evolve the enterprise design system, establishing governance processes that empower designers and engineers to contribute and reuse components effectively.
  • Partner closely with product owners, engineering leads, and data scientists to translate business goals and technical constraints into compelling, feasible design solutions.
  • Drive thought leadership by publishing case studies, internal design patterns, and knowledge‑sharing sessions that elevate the design maturity of the organization.
  • Coach and develop senior and junior designers, building a pipeline of talent that can sustain long‑term innovation within the Incubator.
  • Champion accessibility, inclusivity, and performance considerations throughout the design lifecycle, ensuring products meet global compliance standards.

Essential Qualifications

Senior Product Designer

  • 3–4 years of professional experience delivering end‑to‑end product design solutions in fast‑paced environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Interaction Design, Visual Communication, Human‑Computer Interaction, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating visual design excellence, user‑centered problem solving, and a grasp of design systems.
  • Proficiency with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools; comfortable working within a shared design system.
  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and synthesizing findings into actionable design improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—and the ability to present complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.

Lead Product Designer

  • 5–7 years of progressive design experience, including at least 2 years leading design initiatives and managing cross‑functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a design‑related discipline; advanced certifications or coursework in design thinking are a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling design systems across large, multi‑product organizations.
  • Deep expertise in user research methodologies, service design, and the ability to translate data‑driven insights into compelling experiences.
  • Strong leadership presence—able to mentor, influence, and drive consensus among senior stakeholders.
  • Track record of delivering products that meet accessibility standards (WCAG) and performance benchmarks.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Passion for emerging technologies such as Web3, blockchain, AI‑driven analytics, and their application in supply‑chain ecosystems.
  • Background in e‑commerce platforms, logistics solutions, or enterprise SaaS products.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Lean product development frameworks.
  • Experience working in remote, distributed teams with strong self‑management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of front‑end development basics (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to facilitate seamless handoff with engineering.
