Why This Role Is a Game‑Changer for Your Career

Teaching with Zenith is not a side‑gig; it’s a strategic opportunity to sharpen your technical expertise, hone instructional design skills, and expand your professional network—all while enjoying a fully remote, flexible schedule. Whether you specialize in Web Development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) or Software Development (PHP, SQL), you will deliver our award‑winning, battle‑tested curriculum to motivated 6th‑12th grade students. The role is ideal for high‑performing professionals who value autonomy, enjoy mentorship, and are eager to make a measurable impact on the next generation of tech leaders.

Core Responsibilities – What Your Day Will Look Like

  • Deliver Live Instruction: Conduct 15‑session series (each lasting 2.5–3 hours) using Zoom or a comparable platform, ensuring clear, engaging, and paced delivery of the curriculum.
  • Curriculum Mastery: Thoroughly review pre‑developed lesson plans, activities, and assessments; adapt explanations to meet diverse learning styles without creating new content.
  • Facilitate Interactive Learning: Encourage student participation through live coding demos, breakout‑room problem‑solving, and real‑time Q&A sessions.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Grade assignments, provide constructive feedback, and track student progress using Zenith’s learning management system.
  • Student Support: Respond promptly to student and parent inquiries via email, chat, or phone, maintaining a high level of professionalism and empathy.
  • Schedule Management: Coordinate availability for weekday evenings and weekend slots, committing to consistent timings that align with our students’ school schedules.
  • Technical Setup: Ensure a reliable home office equipped with dual monitors, a high‑speed internet connection, and a functional webcam/microphone.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Participate in weekly mentor meetings, share best practices with fellow instructors, and contribute to curriculum refinement discussions.

Essential Qualifications – The Minimum You Must Bring

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated competence in either Web Development (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) or Software Development (PHP, MySQL/SQL). Real‑world project experience is preferred.
  • Educational Experience: Prior experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring students (K‑12 or higher education) in programming concepts.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent spoken and written English; ability to translate complex technical ideas into clear, accessible language for middle and high school learners.
  • Self‑Management: Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and execute daily teaching tasks without direct supervision.
  • Technology Access: Dedicated computer workspace with two screens, webcam, headset, and a stable broadband connection (minimum 10 Mbps download).
  • Availability: Consistent schedule that includes weekday evenings (after 5 PM) and/or weekend slots for the duration of the course series.

Preferred Qualifications – What Sets Exceptional Candidates Apart

  • Certified teaching credential (e.g., TEFL, CS teaching certificate) or a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with online instructional platforms (Zoom, Google Classroom, Canvas) and LMS tools.
  • Familiarity with educational best practices such as Bloom’s taxonomy, differentiated instruction, and formative assessment techniques.
  • Portfolio of personal or open‑source coding projects that showcase problem‑solving abilities.
  • Previous work with diverse student populations, including under‑represented groups in STEM.
  • Fluency in an additional language, enhancing the ability to support multilingual families.

Key Skills & Competencies for Success

  • Pedagogical Agility: Ability to adapt lesson pacing based on real‑time student feedback.
  • Patience & Empathy: Understanding of common learner frustrations and strategies to keep students motivated.
  • Problem‑Solving Mindset: Quick identification of coding errors and clear explanation of debugging processes.
  • Organizational Acumen: Efficient tracking of attendance, grades, and progress reports.
  • Tech‑Savvy: Comfort with screen‑sharing, virtual whiteboards, and collaborative coding environments.
  • Professionalism: Timely communication, adherence to privacy policies, and respectful interaction with parents and staff.

Zenith invests heavily in its instructors’ long‑term success. As you excel in the classroom, you may transition into:

  • Curriculum Development Lead: Shape new courses, update existing modules, and influence the pedagogical direction of the academy.
  • Senior Instructional Coach: Mentor newly hired teachers, conduct professional development workshops, and lead best‑practice initiatives.
  • Full‑Time Academic Manager: Oversee multiple class cohorts, manage scheduling, and act as a liaison between students, parents, and senior leadership.
  • Special Projects: Participate in research studies on remote learning efficacy, contribute to published whitepapers, or represent Zenith at industry conferences.

All instructors receive access to a robust library of teaching resources, ongoing training webinars, and a community of seasoned educators eager to share insights.
