Experienced Property Field Appraiser – Residential Property Damage Claims Specialist for the San Francisco Bay Area, Working from Home with Flexible Scheduling

As a Property Field Appraiser, you will play a critical role in our claims process, working closely with policyholders, vendors, and contractors to investigate, assess, and facilitate remediation and repair decisions on residential property damage claims.
Role Overview
In this dynamic and challenging role, you will be responsible for meeting virtually or in-person with policyholders at their homes to investigate and assess property damage, negotiate with vendors and contractors, and apply policy contract provisions to resolve claims in a timely and accurate manner. As a task-based position, you will be assigned the field and/or virtual inspection portion of the claim, determining the scope of repairs and preparing a complete estimate that involves all aspects of the damaged dwelling and other structures on the claim. You will work collaboratively with the Claim Owner to address the policyholder's needs and complete the claim, providing superior customer service and communicating effectively throughout the claims process.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide superior customer service to policyholders, working autonomously in the field and from your home office
- Communicate daily with customers to schedule inspections, walk them through the repair process, and help them recover from their loss
- Assess damages and complete estimates using computer-based estimating software, reaching agreements on scope and cost of repairs with customers and/or their representatives
- Accurately document activity and secure claim information within our claim's system, completing file summaries and action plans on newly assigned tasks with updates throughout the life of the claim
- Ensure compliance with state insurance regulations and company claims handling guidelines at all times
- Negotiate and reach agreements with vendors and contractors on repair operations, applying policy contract provisions to resolve claims timely and accurately
- Work independently with minimal management oversight, possessing excellent time-management skills and the ability to make timely and accurate decisions
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A college degree or prior applicable work experience
- Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Solid analytical skills, with the ability to make timely and accurate decisions
- Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to reach agreements with vendors, contractors, and policyholders
- A valid California driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Bilingual skills in Spanish are a plus, as well as a current California adjuster license
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Prior experience in property damage claims, insurance, or a related field
- Knowledge of residential construction, repair, and renovation practices
- Familiarity with computer-based estimating software and claims management systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with policyholders, vendors, contractors, and colleagues
