About the Role

As a Provider Engagement Representative, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining positive relationships between our health plan and providers. You will use your strong customer service orientation and knowledge of insurance claims to serve as an advocate for providers in our networks. This role requires a strong and diverse skillset, including experience in provider relations, network development, and claims processing. You will be responsible for assisting in end-to-end provider claims, enhancing the ease of use of our provider portal, and contributing to the design and implementation of programs that build and nurture positive relationships between our health plan and providers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in end-to-end provider claims and help enhance call quality to ensure that providers receive the support they need to deliver high-quality care to our members.
  • Assist in efforts to enhance the ease of use of our provider portal and future services enhancements to improve the overall experience for our providers.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of programs that build and nurture positive relationships between our health plan and providers, including developing and implementing training and education programs for external providers.
  • Support the development and management of our provider networks, including identifying gaps in network composition and services to assist our network contracting and development teams.
  • Help implement training and development programs for external providers through education programs to ensure that they have the knowledge and skills they need to deliver high-quality care to our members.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our provider networks and services, and work with our network contracting and development teams to implement changes and improvements.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong foundation in provider relations and network development, as well as experience with claims processing and issue resolution. You will also need to have excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Essential Qualifications

  • 2 years of provider relations and/or provider network experience, with a strong understanding of the healthcare industry and the needs of our providers.
  • 2 years of experience with long-term care nursing facilities, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by these providers.
  • 1 year of experience with Medicare and Medicaid regulations, with a strong understanding of the regulatory environment and the impact of these regulations on our providers.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in claims processing and issue resolution, with the ability to analyze complex claims issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, with the ability to use these tools to analyze data and develop reports.
  • 25-50% local travel, with the ability to travel to meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • Reside in Indiana, with the ability to work remotely and participate in virtual meetings and training sessions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 years of healthcare/managed care experience, with a strong understanding of the healthcare industry and the needs of our providers.
  • All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment and maintain confidentiality and security of our systems and data.
