Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Regional Safety Services Coordinator to join our team, working remotely from our office in Columbus. As a Regional Safety Services Coordinator, you will play a critical role in driving our safety performance and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Your expertise and guidance will be instrumental in developing and implementing effective safety training programs, evaluating employee performance, and providing technical support to our operations team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in collision reviews and conduct skills assessments with drivers to identify opportunities for improvement and loss trending
  • Assist in data collection and analysis for loss trending, training content, safety process improvement, and leadership development
  • Determine and develop the most appropriate content for facility driver meetings and leadership development based on specific needs
  • Conduct quarterly Safety Metrics Performance Reviews with assigned facilities and develop targeted action plans to create measurable improvement
  • Coordinate with operations to ensure all length of service and PIT training is conducted as required, using correct content and reviewing skills check ride evaluations for quality
  • Assist in the selection of certified driver trainers, ensuring they meet qualifications, conducting structured interviews, and participating in the selection consensus
  • Evaluate driver orientation effectiveness on an ongoing basis through weekly reviews of orientation surveys, initial road tests, and test summaries
  • Serve as a technical resource for operations in areas of DOT compliance, PeopleNet, Bendix Wingman Fusion, safety processes, and driver training and skills performance
  • Assist the safety services team as needed to ensure compliance with all company, client, and department of transportation (DOT) policies and procedures

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in transportation and logistics safety management, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field. You should have a Class A CDL and be knowledgeable about DOT regulations and safety standards. A 2-year college or technical school education is required, and a BA degree is preferred. Certification as a Certified Director of Safety is also desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Director of Safety certification
  • BA degree in a related field
  • Previous supervisory or management experience in a transportation or logistics environment
  • Strong knowledge of TMW, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, listening, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision and prioritize tasks effectively

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and develop effective solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with drivers, operations staff, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of work
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, pull 100 lbs, stand and walk combined for 7 hours per day, squat, kneel, climb in and around tractors and trailers on occasion
