Responsibilities

  • Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound calls, assisting patients or members with inquiries related to healthcare services, insurance coverage, and billing.
  • Provide accurate information regarding healthcare plans, benefits, and eligibility requirements, ensuring that patients receive the care and information they need to make informed decisions.
  • Schedule appointments, process referrals, and coordinate care between providers and patients, ensuring seamless communication and timely resolution of issues.
  • Resolve customer issues efficiently, including complaints or discrepancies related to claims or service delivery, and escalate unresolved concerns to internal departments as needed.
  • Document all customer interactions and updates in the system accurately and in compliance with HIPAA and company policies, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection protocols.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to address and escalate unresolved concerns, ensuring a seamless customer experience and promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Educate patients or members about available healthcare resources and services, promoting preventative care options and empowering them to take control of their health.
  • Follow established scripts and protocols while maintaining a professional and empathetic tone in all communications, ensuring that patients receive personalized support and guidance.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:

Essential Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in a customer service or healthcare-related role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Basic computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple calls and tasks simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with health insurance, prior authorizations, and specialty care management.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare concepts.
  • Experience working in a remote or virtual environment.
  • Certifications in customer service, healthcare, or a related field.
