Role Description

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research organization to engage professionals with advanced expertise in Statistics. As an AI Tutor – Statistics Specialist , you will play a pivotal role in training next-generation AI systems to reason accurately about statistical concepts, methodologies, and data analysis. This is a full-time opportunity for experts who are passionate about advancing statistical reasoning within cutting-edge AI technologies.

  • Collaborate closely with technical and research teams to develop and refine data annotation frameworks
  • Design challenging statistical problems
  • Provide detailed, high-quality feedback that enhances model understanding
  • Shape how advanced AI systems engage with complex statistical reasoning—from probability theory and inferential methods to Bayesian modeling and experimental design

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Statistics, or Mathematics with a strong focus on probability or applied statistics
  • Exceptional command of English, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to analyze complex data and apply sound statistical judgment
  • Strong research and reasoning skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while managing evolving and complex instructions
  • Deep curiosity about AI, data-driven technologies, and the role of statistical methods in intelligent systems

Requirements

  • Use proprietary software to annotate and evaluate statistical data, equations, and model outputs
  • Design and select challenging statistical problems in areas such as probability theory, regression modeling, stochastic processes, and Bayesian inference
  • Collaborate with technical teams to refine annotation tools and workflows for higher accuracy and efficiency
  • Analyze and critique AI-generated statistical reasoning to improve clarity, correctness, and interpretability
  • Choose problems from statistical domains that align with your expertise
  • Ensure the highest standard of data quality and maintain consistency across diverse tasks and formats, including text, voice, and video
