[Remote] Oncology Data Specialist, Remote

The Oncology Data Specialist will identify, abstract, and maintain records for malignancy cases, ensuring data quality and compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
• Identify, abstract and maintain records for all eligible cases of malignancy adhering to American College of Surgeons (ACoS) and UM UCH Oncology Registry standards and procedures.
• Monitor data quality, timely and accurately submit data to the National Cancer Data Base and the Maryland Cancer Registry according to regulations.
• Coordinate and maintain follow-up and participate in conferences and meetings.
Skills
• Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) is required.
• Minimum of one (1) year previous experience as a Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) with a demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, medical records and medical office skills is required.
• Ability to (a) handle multiple priorities, (b) work independently, (c) take initiative in achieving expected results, and (d) handle confidential information.
• Demonstrated skill in: (a) making effective decisions, (b) attention to detail and follow through, (c) problem-solving, (d) organizing work, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, (e) working with clinical staff in analyzing registry data, (f) respecting the confidential nature of all aspects of patient care, (g) understanding of medical records, ICD-9 and ICD-10, coding systems, and (h) Oncology registry software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and data management skills.
• Experience working in an Oncology Registry multi-facility database preferred.
