Follow your passion for nursing beyond the bedside as a Nursing Consultant Institutional Licensor. As a Registered Nurse with the Home and Community Living Administration (HCLA), you will travel individually, or as a team member, conducting and coordinating on-site inspections for adult family homes. This job is important as it ensures that resident care is appropriate and supports stability for residents living in community settings. King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use. Here are a few good reasons why you should consider this career opportunity: • You'll be able to add new skills and knowledge to your nursing and vulnerable adult long-term care "tool kit" • You're assigned to a wide variety of locations which keeps your workday interesting with ongoing advocacy for residents • You'll receive an excellent benefits package that rivals any employer in Washington State Some of what you will do: • Travel to Adult Family Homes in Region 2 to conduct on-site state licensure inspections; this can involve visiting a facility for consecutive days until the inspection is complete • Manage workload and timelines including preparation, and completion of inspections, and create accurate and timely finding reports (i.e., statements of deficiencies) • Observe resident services and care within the physical environment in which the services are provided • Conduct interviews with residents, family members, and other community representatives to obtain information regarding satisfaction with the care and services provided • Obtain information regarding nursing care and services from medical records, facility staff, and other sources • Communicate findings with providers throughout the inspection process • Communicate with team members, providers, staff, residents, and resident representatives. • Complete timely computer input (i.e. start and exit dates, statements of deficiencies, investigation summary reports) into the required state data systems • Participate in all required education, training, and administrative hearings Who should apply? Licensed Registered Nurse in Washington State And five years of experience as an RN in a long-term care setting Or Bachelor of Science in Nursing And three years of experience as an RN in a long-term care setting Or Master of Nursing/Master of Science in Nursing And two years of RN experience in a long-term care setting Note: A valid Washington State license to practice as a registered nurse is required You must be able to wear a respirator (a type of mask rated as a N95 compliant mask) Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities: • Experience and knowledge in the field of Mental Health nursing • Excellent computer skills in charting, documenting findings (interviews, summaries, reports), legal documents. Teams and Outlook are a bonus • Self-sufficient, well organized, fast and flexible • Great interviewing skills with the ability to stay focused on the original allegation but also know when to follow up on safety concerns • Ability to communicate effectively with management, peers, clients, and the public • Principles and practices of public health fields, community organizations, and resources, effective teaching methods, research and study methods Interested?
