Job Summary

The Data Entry and Claims Specialist will play a critical role in supporting and promoting change management and departmental initiatives within our assigned area of responsibility. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering routine work independently, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, and meeting deadlines in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities

  • Supports and promotes change management and departmental initiatives within assigned area of responsibility
  • Meets or exceeds departmental quality and service standards
  • Delivers routine work independently, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines, in a timely manner and meets deadlines appropriately
  • Makes routine and non-routine decisions, applying limited but increasingly more discretion within role, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
  • Determines eligibility and confirms effective dates for benefit elections based on contractual guidelines
  • Leverages critical thinking and problem-solving skills to create and modify member-level records across multiple products, applications, and platforms
  • Maintains accurate member records by verifying dates, names, salary figures, and other information provided by groups
  • Applies policy provisions for effective dates, evidence of insurability, and other pertinent information to determine necessary changes
  • Considers the customer experience in all actions and recognizes what needs to be done to meet customer needs, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness in system work independently

Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

Essential Qualifications

  • High School or GED (Minimum Required)
  • No prior experience required, but previous experience in data entry and claims processing is an asset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced environment, with a proven ability to work under stress in cases of emergency, critical, or hazardous situations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining speed of work, accuracy, and attention to detail without loss to productivity
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment, demonstrating interpersonal skills with a collaborative style
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a proven ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail

  • Solid relationship management skills with internal and/or clients (e.g., management, peers, colleagues, customers, etc.)
  • Ability to use sound judgment and discretion regarding confidential information
