Job Description Provides education and training in coding, documentation, and billing compliance within department to enhance the skill set of coding professionals to support coding operations. Develops and facilitates non-medical staff training and development programs, including new employee orientation, skills training, team building, customer service, and change management. Conducts needs analysis to identify skills and competencies and develops/recommends training. Must live in one of the following states to be considered: Alabama Florida Georgia North Carolina Oregon South Carolina Tennessee Texas Virginia Wisconsin Experience 5 years of experience in hospital coding education Advanced knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying federal/government regulations to ensure coding and documentation compliance Preferred Qualifications Teaching or instructional design certificate Education High school diploma or equivalent Certification Summary Minimum of one of the following: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated experience in clinical documentation for all healthcare settings and healthcare disciplines Advanced knowledge base of the conventions, rules, and guidelines for multiple specialty outpatient same day surgery procedure coding Advance knowledge of classification and reimbursement systems (e.g., ICD -10, diagnosis-related group, and all patient refined diagnosis-related groups e.g. MS-DRG, APR-DRG, Tricare DRG) Advance knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, ICD-10 CM, ICD-10 PCS coding Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, computerized abstracting/coding systems, and electronic health records Job Responsibilities Provides onboarding and delivers education and updates to coding staff regarding coding, documentation, and billing practices to meet regulatory requirements and department quality standards. Conducts routine skills assessments to identify learning challenges and opportunities. Prepares and conducts needs analysis to determine training needs. Develops internship program curricula and instructional materials that support and enhance learning objectives. Provides regular training updates to department leadership regarding intern program participants' skills assessments and training needs. Supports and participates in the continuous assessment and improvement of department training needs.
