Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Education, followed by a Master's or Doctoral degree in Special Education or Teaching Students with Special Needs. • Special Education Teachers may specialize in areas such as K-12th grade, Mild-Moderate Level Students, or Severe Autism. These specializations may be indicated as endorsements on your license. • Experience with student evaluations, including Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). • Active Special Education State Teaching License required. • Certification: State License, 2 years of school experience, and Education Certificate if applicable. • Teaching credential with any of the 6 Special Education endorsements. Responsibilities • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs. • Provide specialized instruction and support tailored to individual learning goals and needs. • Assess student progress, adapt curriculum materials, and employ behavior management techniques to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
