About the position The Oral Anticancer Education Pharmacist II is responsible for providing education to patients starting oral anticancer agents and other specialty medications in a home setting. This role involves collaborating with other healthcare disciplines to optimize pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients receive follow-up monitoring for adherence and toxicity. The position also includes training new staff and pharmacy residents, with a work location that is primarily remote but requires occasional on-campus presence in Boston. Responsibilities • Provide comprehensive education to patients and caregivers receiving oral anticancer therapies and specialty medications. , • Ensure medication orders and prescriptions are appropriate, accurate, and complete based on patient-specific parameters and clinical data. , • Provide clinical consultation and evidence-based recommendations for treatment plans, supportive care, dose adjustments, and monitoring plans. , • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team through workflow and patient care-related meetings. , • Document clinical care activities in the specialty management system and EHR, communicating recommendations and changes in care plans to involved staff. , • Participate in clinical administrative duties such as formulary addition/change requests, patient record auditing, and metrics reporting. , • Engage in scholarly and educational activities, including quality/process improvement and continuing education presentations. , • Develop workflow design, teaching documents, education, and monitoring tools to improve and expand the program. Requirements • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy. , • 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience with at least one year in oncology or patient education, or three years of outpatient/specialty pharmacy experience with at least one year in specialty pharmacy patient education. , • Experience in oral anticancer education preferred or completion of a PGY1 residency. , • Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. , • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with others inside and outside the department. , • Ability to work within a collaborative team-focused environment. , • Ability to use all technology required to perform primary job functions. , • Ability to prioritize and adapt to changes in the work setting. , • Ability to accurately assess drug therapeutic appropriateness based on patient-specific parameters and clinical data. , • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to resolve common problems.
