We are searching for a Medical Assistant – someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will gather information, assess, and provide direct care to patients. Works collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to render age-appropriate care. Think you’ve got what it takes? Job Duties & Responsibilities Assists with the collection of patient data Assists in the collection of patient data that may include biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per practice protocol Collects and documents vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and reason for a visit Documents current medications, allergies and other information in the electronic health record with 100% accuracy Provides general patient care Prepares patient for examination, assists provider during treatments, exams and testing Documents all interventions, sends electronic prescription refills, assists provider in providing office emergency patient care Coordinates patient care by following up on lab results, ER visits, or any part of care that needs coordination Administers medication and immunization Administers medication and immunizations, identifies patients eligible for the Vaccines for Children Program Documents administration of medication and immunizations in the medical record Reports all medication and immunization errors and adverse reactions to Maintains integrity of medication supplies by following infection control and inventory control guidelines Supports patients in self-management of their health through assisting with education Provides patient education and documents education in the electronic health record Coordinates referral Assesses patient’s eligibility for referral by verifying coverage with payer prior to initiating referral and documents eligibility in the electronic health record Identifies and documents network providers for appropriate referrals completes paperwork and documentation for authorized referrals and transmits information to the referred agency Collects specimens and performs laboratory tests Collects and processes specimens, documenting results Performs and documents scheduled quality control, instrument maintenance, and calibration procedures according to manufacturer information Takes appropriate action and documents out of control values Troubleshoots and documents instrument problems and makes minor adjustments Manages Outstanding Orders Report and Lab Error Work Queue to assure results are received and the provider is notified of results As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards. Skills & Requirements H.S. Diploma or GED Graduation from a Medical assistant, emergency medical technician or LVN program Basic Life Support - American Heart Association 1 year of related work experience preferred Apply Job!
