Position: Utilities Operations Manager Location: Central Texas This newly created position offers an exciting opportunity to shape operations and make a lasting impact from day one. As a hands-on leader, you will be instrumental in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and long-term sustainability of MEP and central utility systems in a large-scale campus environment. This role goes beyond overseeing daily operations — it requires strategic thinking, direct involvement, and hands-on leadership to optimize and maintain complex utility systems across a vibrant campus setting. Key responsibilities include: • Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and develop a team responsible for operating and maintaining MEP systems and large-scale utility systems, including chilled water (12K+ tons) and steam heating across the campus. • Operational Strategy: Provide insights to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve system performance. • System Optimization: Maximize uptime, reliability, and energy efficiency across the campus environment. • Collaboration: Partner with facilities, engineering, finance, and leadership teams to align utility operations with overall campus goals. • Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and maintain exceptional safety and operational protocols. • Financial Management: Oversee budgets, forecast expenses, and recommend capital improvements. • Innovation & Sustainability: Lead initiatives to enhance long-term operational resilience and environmental stewardship. Required Experience: • At least 5-7 years of hands-on experience managing and maintaining MEP and utility systems, including chilled water, steam heating, and other central utility infrastructure. • Proven leadership experience in managing and developing teams in an operational and maintenance environment. • Strong hands-on experience with preventive and corrective maintenance of MEP and utility systems, ensuring optimal performance and system reliability. • Knowledge of energy management, system optimization, and operational efficiency best practices. • Experience with budget management, forecasting, and capital planning for large-scale systems. • In-depth understanding of regulatory compliance, safety standards, and industry-specific regulations. • A track record of driving innovation and sustainability initiatives within utility operations or similar fields. • Experience in a large campus or multi-building environment is highly preferred.
