About Us

Job Summary

This is an entry level position responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the operation of a computer database. The position helps ensure the database runs properly, remains current, makes user access readily available, and formulates and designs new database applications. The position assists with decisions regarding procedures for set up of, access to, and operation of a computer database.

Responsibilities

1. Assists in administering assigned databases; assists with backup and recovery operations, database patching, and upgrades.
2. Assists data warehouse team with development needs, query performance and tuning.
3. Assists in troubleshooting and resolving a variety of problems and issues.
4. Assists in developing software to automate processes.
5. Prepares documentation of tools, procedures, diagnoses, repairs and requirements.
6. Researches requirements of potential new services.
7. Evaluates the performance of existing services.
8. Assists in managing user accounts.
9. Assists in deploying server operating systems; assists in managing system configurations.
10. Assists in building test environments to evaluate changes prior to production.
11. Provides workstation support for end users.
12. Performs related duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree and over one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

1. Knowledge of relational database management software.
2. Knowledge of database performance and tuning principles.
3. Knowledge of server operating systems.
4. Knowledge of server scripting languages.
5. Knowledge of functionality testing procedures.
6. Knowledge of Board of Regents policies and procedures.
7. Skill in collaborating with multiple constituents.
8. Skill in decision making and problem solving.
9. Skill in the provision of support to end users.
10. Skill in oral and written communication.
11. Ability to respond diplomatically to sensitive and critical issues.
12. Ability to effectively multi-task.
